Skeleton Harbor – “Maiden Voyage” OUT NOW!

I have been a fan of Eric Hardiman’s music since I first heard the Rambutan album “Incidences” in 2009. We got in touch, and since then Eric has been kind enough to release two albums of mine on his legendary label Tape Drift. A couple of years ago we started collaborating on what would eventually become the debut album by Skeleton Harbor. It has been a real adventure working on this, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the result. To top it off, the album was picked up by the most excellent Oxtail recordings, who has done outstanding work on the presentation and release of “Maiden Voyage”.

The label says:

The fog rolls in, the wind picks up, and the sun goes down – this voyage may be more than you bargained for. Working long-distance between Albany, USA and Bergen, Norway over the course of 2016, Andreas Brandal and Rambutan have crafted a suite of haunted, icy soundscapes that will be required listening in the depths of the upcoming winter. Expertly crafted and patiently executed, Maiden Voyage is full of gloomy, murky, nautical sounds from two of the truest OGs of the experimental underground.

Check out this, and a bunch of other great stuff in the new batch from Oxtail HERE.

Flesh Coffin split lathe with Nar

Posted in News, Sounds with tags on October 20, 2017 by andreasbrandal

lathe

A new seven-inch lathe split between Flesh Coffin and the mysterious Nar is out now on the Minneapolis based label Darker Days Ahead.

Here’s what the label says:

Darker Days Ahead is very excited to announce our very first lathe release, and what better way than with a split 7’’. First up is the mysterious unrelenting harsh noise wall project Nar. This elusive misanthropic project unleashes an unforgiving track entitled “Unresponsive” of unmovable HNW in such a cold way, the entire track moves along with little to no change almost sounding like a never ending avalanche, ending in a lock groove for infinite playback. Flip side we have Norway native Flesh Coffin which is one of the main projects of Andreas Brandal. “The Excavation of Transgression” is a 5 minute composition starting off with an eerie vintage sounding Halloween inspired soundtrack bleeding over to ambient undertones and harsh noise textures. Deep distortion climbs through the speakers as high screeching metal is ground up to dust.

Collaboration with Continental Fruit out now!

Posted in News, Sounds with tags , on September 25, 2017 by andreasbrandal

ABCF-Tape

My first collaboration with Jon Øyvind dates back to the mid nineties, when I did the cover art for his “Taste Like Good EP”. Aside from a guest spot on a track from the brilliant Continental Fruit album “Gently Carved Into Sound” in 2002, this is our first time to release something together.

As far as I know, both “Taste..” and “Gently..” have yet to be available in downloadable form, but the equally great “Mentor Mentee” released on Smalltown Supersound in 2004, can be found on Spotify/Itunes/Tidal etc.

“Andreas Brandal & Continental Fruit” is out now on FRM-AT.
